In the institute is - DMUD
It is a Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Ultrasound Diagnostic.
What are the key features of DMUD?
The postgraduate DMUD is an internationally recognized qualification covering the syllabus of American Registry Examination for Ultrasound Credential/License exam "ARDMS" which is a must whoever wants to practice in North America, i,e, in USA & Canada.
The objective of this one-year duration postgraduate diploma course is to produce advanced standing sonologist through a very intensive and more detail course module comprising both didactic and hands on practical training who will be able to serve our community in a secondary or tertiary level hospitals &/or clinics.
Many of our graduates passed the ARDMS credential and working in Canada, USA. In addition to the secondary & tertiary level hospitals/clinics throughout Bangladesh, many of our graduates with DMUD are working in Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, Nepal etc.
Duration and Certification of the program
The diploma DMUD certificate shall be awarded jointly by Shristy Institute and Institute of Ultrasound Technique (IUT), Canada and Supported by U&I Alliance, University of Dhaka and/or Bangladesh Techincal Education Board (BTEB) completing 12 months of full time structured training. This includes lectures, problem based learning, assignments, hands-on practical & clinical training with live patients.Key features are :
 |

Course description on DMUD program
Physics and Instrumentation of Ultrasound
This course teaches the student the basic principles of ultrasound, the application of these principles to image production, and an understanding of the equipment used in the practice of ultrasound. Topics include the internal components of various ultrasound scanners, the functions of the different scanners, quality control programs, and possible biological effects of ultrasound. There is a practical laboratory component to this course.
Cross-Sectional Anatomy & Pathophysiology (Part I & Part II)
The need for today's diagnostic imaging physicians to completely understand and identify relational and cross-sectional anatomy has increased with the rapid advancement of imaging technology. This course is designed to enhance the student's ability to observe a transverse, sagittal, or coronal section and mentally reconstruct the three-dimensional relationship in the area. The basic principles of anatomy and physiology of the body's organ systems will also be reviewed.
Ultrasound of Abdomen and Superficial Structures (Part I & Part II)
This course prepares the student to recognize normal and abnormal ultrasonic appearances of the abdominal and superficial structures, thyroid, breasts, scrotum, testes, joints & muscles. Subject material includes the anatomy and physiology of the regions being scanned, an introduction to pathophysiology, and lectures and laboratories on the performance of ultrasound and interpretation of images.
Obstetrics & Gynecology and Neurosonology
This course prepares the student to recognize normal and abnormal appearances of the obstetric and gynecological patient. Subject material includes a review of the female reproductive system, the physiology of the gravid and non-gravid female and fetal development and anomalies in 1st trimester, 2nd & 3rd trimester, including fetal medicine. This module also covers the ultrasound scanning of prenatal, neonatal & infant brain - Neurosonology. Practical laboratories provide experience in the performance of ultrasound in this area.
CLINICAL PRACTICUM - Ultrasound Scanning
This laboratory course focuses on developing scanning techniques deemed necessary for ultrasonic imaging. The student spends 28 weeks in an ultrasound department, applying the knowledge and skills acquired in the didactic section of the program. Where possible, the student has exposure to all types of investigations in the abdominal, small parts, neonatal brain, gynecological and obstetric, vascular and musculoskeletal areas.
At the conclusion of the hands-on training, the student will be competent in all areas of basic ultrasound procedures including Doppler application. For the student reaching an acceptable competency level, there is an exam session at the completion of hands on & didactic program. |
